Features

    The Range of Houdini Harnesses include:

    HOUDINI 27 HARNESS

    Designed for single or split backed double seats.This is a vehicle positioning harness for children and adults with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay or other challenging behavioural needs where the person has problems with attention and safety. Providing safer travel and management of these loved ones when travelling in the car or other means of transport.Alternatively, this harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the occupant in an upright sitting position for persons with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.
     
    Fits most types of vehicle seating including low or high backed, and is used on aircraft seats by many leading airlines. The two transverse fixing straps do not interfere with the passenger behind using the drop down trays (depending on airline). It is recommended to seek permission from the airlines to use the Houdini 27 harness prior to departure.The harness consists of a full body 5-point harness connected to a back pad which is fitted horizontally around the vehicle seat back with two horizontal fixing straps.The Houdini 27 harness is identical to the Houdini 28 harness, except the mounting straps are different for different seats.This vehicle harness is classed as a low risk medical device and carries the CE mark and complies with the requirements of MDD 93/42 EEC.
     
    We strongly recommend that a safety webbing slicer is purchased with every vehicle harness and kept in the vehicle as a safety precaution.

    Checklist:

    • Only suitable for single backrest seats eg: front vehicle seat, split rear backrest seats, bus and airline seats
    • Attaching straps go horizontally around the rear of the seat it is installed on
    • Full 5-point harness for good support (crotch strap between the legs doesn't need to be used if not required)
    • Access to rear of seat is necessary when installing
    • Cross strap can be purchased for additional security of the shoulder straps (prevents the shoulder straps been pulled off)
    • No gap required between seat and backrest

    HOUDINI 28 HARNESS

    Fits most types of vehicle seating including single and double seats.

    This is a vehicle positioning harness for children and adults with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay or other challenging behavioural needs where the person has problems with attention and safety. Providing safer travel and management of these loved ones when travelling in the car or other means of transport. Alternatively, this harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the occupant in an upright sitting position for persons with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.

    This Houdini 28 harness is similar to the Houdini 27 except that the seat attachment straps go vertically around the vehicle seat. To fit the harness access is required between the seat back and seat cushion.

    We strongly recommend that a safety webbing slicer is purchased with every vehicle harness and kept in the vehicle as a safety precaution.

    • Suitable for bench vehicle seats only, or in the case of 'deep-bucket' style single backrest seats
    • Attaching straps go vertically around the rear of the seat it is installed on

    HOUDINI 31  7-POINT HARNESS

    Vehicle positioning harness for children and adults with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay or other challenging behavioural needs where the person has problems with attention and safety. Providing safer travel and management of these loved ones when travelling in the car or other means of transport. Alternatively, this harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the occupant in an upright sitting position for persons with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.

    The Houdini 31 Harness offers greater support due to a front PVC pad that is attached around the individual's torso with two straps fitted with anti-escape buckles. Fits most types of vehicle seating including single & double seats. To fit the harness access is required between the seat back and seat cushion.

    HOUDINI 13 HARNESS

    This is a vehicle positioning harness for children and adults with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay or other challenging behavioural needs where the person has problems with attention and safety. Providing safer travel and management of these loved ones when travelling in the car or other means of transport. Unique rear fastening with all the buckles being behind the seat backrest.

    In vehicles, this harness is suitable for use on a single seat only, and can be fitted on wheelchairs and some easy chairs. Specially designed to restrain the child or adult during transport when seated in a single seat or high backed double seats where the back rest is split to the seat level.

    To fit the harness easy access is required all the way round the seat back and underneath the base of the seat cushion. Alternatively, this harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the occupant in an upright sitting position for persons with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.

    Checklist:

    • Only suitable for single backrest seats eg: front seat or rear 'split-backrest' seat styles
    • All 3 buckles are behind the individual where they cannot reach them
    • When putting the harness on, the carer is behind the individual
    • Good access must be available for carer to sit behind seat whilst putting the harness on
    • Can be used on wheelchairs and other seating systems
    • Gap is required between seat and backrest for strap to be passed through

    HOUDINI 22 HARNESS

    Vehicle positioning harness for children and adults with special needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down Syndrome, Asperger’s disorder, developmental delay or other challenging behavioural needs where the person has problems with attention and safety. Providing safer travel and management of these loved ones when travelling in the car or other means of transport. Alternatively, this harness can also be used to offer postural support and assist in seating the occupant in an upright sitting position for persons with physical disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy (CP) and other significant physical disabilities or complex needs where extra support and positioning is required during travel.

    The body harness is worn before entering the vehicle. It is fitted with a waist belt and chest strap which fasten behind the passenger's back with side-release buckles. This harness will fit both single and bench seats. Suitable for bus, plane and taxi travel and children in Hip Spicas! Access is required where the seat back joins the seat cushion as a ‘gap’ is necessary to pass the vertical fixing strap through from the front to the rear of the seat back.

    Checklist:

    • Fast and simple harness to use
    • 2-piece harness: torso section and seat strap (makes overall handling of individual easy)
    • Torso section can be put on individual while they are distracted in the home, classroom or care centre before walking to vehicle
    • When walking to vehicle, the carer can hold the straps of the torso section for better management
    • Can be used on single and bench seats
    • Can be used with booster 'seat raiser' cushions
    • Suitable for bus, plane and taxi transport. (always get signed approval prior to plane travel)
    • Gap is required between seat and backrest for strap to pass through

    SECURE-FIX VEHICLE HARNESS

    Secure-Fix Transport waist belts can be easily installed on most vehicle seats and many other suitable chairs for security for individuals who are confused or have challenging behaviour. To be used in conjunction with the vehicle safety belt.
    Features a patented Magnet-Release System. Positive anti-escape catch system cannot be disengaged without the magnet key.

    Important Notes

    • Houdini vehicle harnesses are not classed as safety harness but as a medical device for postural support. It must be worn in conjunction with the vehicle safety belt. It is classed as a Disabled Persons Restraints for postural support and as a low risk medical device it carries the CE mark and complies with the requirements of MDD 93/42 EEC.
    • It is advisable to carry out a risk assessment for each client in order to consider the problems involved and what the situation would be if the passenger is not wearing a special needs harness. Could they be in danger to themselves and to other passengers in that vehicle or even other drivers on the road if they are not safely seated during transit?
    • The safety belt provided in the vehicle must always be worn over the top of our harness to comply with safety regulations unless they are exempt for medical reasons.  The combination of the existing vehicle safety belt & the secondary harness offers added security for the passenger.
    • The Houdini harnesses can be used with booster bases only, however cannot be used in conjunction with a booster seat which has a backrest on it.
